Dupaco & Home Savings Bank

Dupaco is acquiring Madison-based Home Savings Bank. In legal jargon, that means we’re purchasing the bank’s assets and assuming its liabilities. In terms of impact, it means Dupaco members in Wisconsin will have enhanced access to in-person credit union service (yay!). And, it will bring an opportunity for us to promote financial well-being and provide money advice and financial tools to help more people get ahead. That’s the Dupaco difference!

Important Information

Dupaco is in the home stretch for completion of its acquisition of Home Savings Bank. Conversion of the data and technical systems will begin on Friday, June 3 and will finish on Monday, June 6. There will be temporary interruptions to the service and systems you may use, and we’re sorry about that. Should you have questions or need help planning for this service interruption, please contact Dupaco.

Home Savings Online Banking and Website: The Home Savings Bank website, online banking, and mobile app will be taken offline permanently on Friday, June 3 at 3 pm CT. Dupaco offers online banking (Shine Online) and a mobile banking app (Shine Mobile Banking). Both versions of Shine are free and you can begin using them on the morning of Monday, June 6. This means there will be a period in which online banking access and transfers will be unavailable, so please plan accordingly.

Home Savings 24-Hour Telephone Banking and Phone System: Home Savings Bank telephone system and 24-hour telephone banking will retire on Friday, June 3. The exact time for this change is subject to the phone company making the change. Dupaco offers Presto telephone banking, which you can begin using on the morning of Monday, June 6. Beginning Friday, June 3, calls to the Home Savings Bank phone number, 608-282-6000, will automatically transfer to Dupaco’s phone system. Dial Dupaco at 800-373-7600 – use the recorded prompts or dial 0 to talk with a human.

Checks and Debit Cards: Home Saving Bank debit cards will work until 2 am CT on Monday, June 6. At that same time, Dupaco debit cards will begin working. Home Savings checks can continue to be used through June of next year, 2023.

ATM access: The ATM located at the east branch, 3762 E. Washington Ave., is temporarily out of service until the morning of June 6. We understand you may experience inconveniences while we complete the final activities required to convert the data and technical systems.

In-branch Service: At 9 am CT on Monday, June 6, the east and west branch office lobbies will open. No appointment needed! Drive-up service will also be available.

Checking & Saving Accounts

Beginning May 1, 2022, your deposits will be insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (“NCUSIF”) and not by the FDIC. All of your current deposits will continue to be federally insured up to $250,000 for each account category through the NCUA, who administers the NCUSIF.

Here’s an at-a-glance guide for navigating the changes:

  • Your checking account number will not change.
  • You shouldn’t experience any interruption to automatic payments taken from your account
  • Direct deposit should not be interrupted, but to ensure no issues, we advise you to ask your employer, and others who make deposits into your account, to change your direct deposits to Dupaco starting June 6, 2022. To change your direct deposit, you’ll need your checking account number and this routing number: 273974581.
  • Your Home Savings Bank checks will continue to work until June 30, 2023. You can order Dupaco checks beginning on Monday, June 6, 2022, if you prefer.

If you have an active Home Savings Bank debit card, it will automatically be re-issued as a Dupaco debit MoneyCard. You’ll receive this new card in mid-May. Your old card will stop working on Monday, June 6, 2022 and your new card will begin working on that same day. You will need to activate and re-PIN your new card.

No action on your part is required for this change. The transition to the new accounts will take place after close of business on Friday, June 3, 2022. Note that Dupaco’s money market account is classified as a savings account, so Dupaco does not issue checks to be used with this account type. Money market account holders can make in-person withdrawals, or transfer money using Shine Online and Mobile Banking, or by phone.

Most deposits and debits are applied to your account in the order in which Dupaco receives them.

For some checks you deposit, only a portion will be made available at the time of deposit; the balance typically will be available up to three business days later. For details on the availability for withdrawal of your deposits, see the Funds Availability section of your Account Agreement and Disclosure.

There are several types of debit transactions presented by merchants for posting to your account, and we are not necessarily in control of how and when they are received. See the Overdraft Privilege Disclosure for details.

Credit Cards & Loans

Banker’s Bank will continue to own and service your Home Savings Bank credit card.

Terms and conditions of your loans or lines of credit with Home Savings Bank will not change. Loan numbers will not change, either.

Beginning June 6, 2022, you’ll no longer receive payment notices on individual loans. Instead, you can find your payment information on your monthly Dupaco member statement. Or find this information in Shine Online and Mobile Banking, where you can see additional details like term and rate, and make a payment. You can also mail payments to Dupaco, or pay in-person at any branch or shared branch.

You may continue to use these checks until you run out. Dupaco does not issue Home Equity checks. But you can advance your Home Equity line of credit through Shine Online and Mobile Banking, in-person, or by phone.

Account Statements

Dupaco provides monthly member statements either by mail or as an eStatement. One statement contains detail on each of the accounts under that member number, including transactions, dividends, interest, balance, and/or payment information. Statements are mailed or available shortly after the 1st of every month. Visa credit cards have separate statements, and are mailed or available between the 7th and 14th day of every month.

Online & Mobile Banking

Dupaco offers free online and mobile banking called “Shine”. You can begin using either version of Shine on or after Monday, June 6. To download the Shine Mobile app, visit your phone’s app store and search “Dupaco” or get started here.

Hint: You’ll need your social security number and Dupaco member number to sign up.

If you used Home Savings Bank’s Bill Pay, your payee information will transfer over to Dupaco’s bill pay feature within Shine Online Banking. This includes any payments set up on a recurring cycle. The last day payments will be processed through Home Savings Bank bill pay is Friday, June 3, 2022.

ATMs & Locations

HSB has two branches, both located in Madison, Wis. Upon completion of the acquisition, these two branches will become full-service Dupaco locations.

  • East side of Madison at 3762 E. Washington Avenue
  • West side of Madison at 7701 Mineral Point Road

These branches will remain open and at your service during usual business hours.

In addition, following the June 3, 2022 conversion, all Dupaco members, including former HSB customers, will be able to use Dupaco’s 20 branch locations in addition to the two Dupaco branches in Madison.

You can also use your debit MoneyCard at any ATM that’s part of the Privileged Status® and CO-OP ATM networks. The first eight transactions per month at non-Dupaco-owned ATMs are free, with each subsequent transaction subject to a nominal charge. Note: Dupaco’s ATM network is a change from Home Savings Bank’s, but there are more ATMs within this new network, which is good for you.

Plus, your total daily limit on ATM withdrawals will be increased to $1,000.
