Dupaco to open learning lab branch in Coralville

CORALVILLE, Iowa—Dupaco Community Credit Union will expand service to members who live in the communities of North Liberty, Coralville and Iowa City with a branch office at the northeast corner of the intersection of Coral Ridge Avenue and Interstate 80 in Coralville.

Dupaco said it has purchased the three-story building located at 2530 Corridor Way in Coralville. The credit union plans to begin remodeling the building’s first floor in late 2021 in preparation to open a learning lab branch in late fall of 2022.

The 18,936-square-foot building’s second floor is currently leased. The third floor is partially leased, with the remainder available for lease.

About the learning lab

The planned learning lab branch underpins the credit union’s mission to improve each member’s financial well-being. The branch design better enables Dupaco staff to help members understand and control their money through hands-on demonstration of Dupaco desktop, tablet and mobile deposit services, and more.

On-site branch employees can focus on having deeper conversations with members about money thanks to a technology called a live video teller. Live tellers conduct real-time, face-to-face transactions from a distance. Dupaco employees located at a central location in Dubuque will remotely operate the Coralville Learning Lab lobby and drive-through video teller machines.

The new video teller technology is intended to boost the credit union’s mission to improve each member’s financial position, according to Dupaco Chief Marketing Officer Dave Klavitter.

“Video tellers will give members more access to Dupaco branch employees in order to have deeper conversations about money, products and services,” he said. “We also expect the video tellers to increase future opportunities for member convenience—to serve more members, in more places, with expanded hours of service.”

Dupaco’s newest learning lab branch will also feature:

  • iPad training counters to help members learn how to use Dupaco’s increasing number of convenient mobile services.
  • Interactive laboratory tables for small group discussions and offices.
  • Built-in electronic wall displays to aid in consultations about money.
  • Signage and lighting that use LED illumination to conserve energy and reduce electricity costs by more than 35% annually.

In addition to financial products and advice, Dupaco also offers insurance and investment services. It serves both individuals and businesses.
